These terms and conditions set out how Michelle Allen, trading as Michelle Arden Moore, Infinite Upstart, and Precocious Press (“Precocious Press”, “we”, “us”), provides books, competitions, submissions, and digital content.

Precocious Press is the publishing imprint under which books and related publishing activities are delivered.

By purchasing, submitting work, or otherwise engaging with Precocious Press, you agree to these terms.

1. About Precocious Press

Precocious Press is an independent publishing imprint offering:

  • Books (physical and digital)

  • Writing competitions and submissions

  • Anthologies and related publishing activity

All services and products are provided by Michelle Allen trading under the names listed above.

2. Payments

All payments are taken in advance via secure third-party providers.

  • Prices are listed in GBP

  • Prices may change at any time but will not affect completed transactions

  • Your statutory rights are not affected

3. Submissions

Where competitions or open submissions are offered:

  • Submission guidelines must be followed; non-compliant submissions may be disqualified

By submitting work, you confirm that:

  • the work is your own original writing

  • it does not infringe any third-party rights

  • you have full rights to submit it for consideration

If your work is selected:

  • you will be contacted with specific publication terms

  • copyright remains with the author unless otherwise agreed in writing

  • Precocious Press reserves the right to edit work for publication in collaboration with the author

Precocious Press reserves the right not to select a winner or shortlist if submissions do not meet the required standard.

4. Books and Sales

Physical Books

If purchased via third-party retailers (e.g. Amazon), their returns and refund policies apply.

For direct sales through Precocious Press:

  • refunds or replacements are only offered for damaged or faulty items

  • you must contact us within 14 days of receipt

Digital Products

Digital products (including ebooks and downloads) are non-refundable once access has been provided, except where required by law.

5. Competition Entries

Entry fees are non-refundable once a submission has been received, except where required by law or in the event that the competition is cancelled by Precocious Press.

Submission does not guarantee publication.

Precocious Press may:

  • shortlist and publish selected entries

  • promote selected works in connection with the competition

6. Intellectual Property

  • All published works remain the copyright of their respective authors unless otherwise agreed

  • Website content, branding, and materials remain the intellectual property of Precocious Press

Content must not be copied, reproduced, or distributed without permission.

7. Limitation of Liability

Precocious Press takes reasonable care in delivering its services and publishing activities, however:

  • outcomes (including publication, sales, or competition success) cannot be guaranteed

  • we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses

Total liability is limited to the amount paid for the relevant product or entry.

8. Website Use

Content on this website is provided for general information and creative engagement.

We reserve the right to update, modify, or remove content at any time without notice.

9. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated from time to time.
The version in force at the time of purchase or submission will apply.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
